Movies You Need to Watch in October 2019

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Happy Halloween!

Oh right.. we aren’t there yet. But that is besides the point! For film buffs and casual movie goers all around, this October is going to be packed with some interesting films to watch at your local theatre.

Joker

When the trailer for this DC film was released back in April, I was beyond excited for this premiere. The film takes place in Gotham in the 70s, before New York City was “Disney-fied” – it was raw, dark and dangerous. The movie is rated R, which is a first for DC, and is going to explore the decline of a man’s sanity and how his mental health and life struggles affect him into taking on the Joker persona.

Release Date – October 4th, 2019

Gemini Man

With the recent release of Aladdin and the announcement of a new Bad Boys movie, Will Smith is making his mark in the film industry once again. Gemini Man is an action packed sci-fi film where protagonist Henry Brogan (played by Smith) is being targeted by an assassin, only to find out that he seems a little too familiar..

Release Date – October 11th

The Addams Family

With the sudden popularity rise of film remakes, adaptations, and giving consumers a feeling of nostalgia, it is no surprise that we are getting yet another remake in October. The Addams Family is an animated adaptation of a cult classic. The interesting thing about this animation reimagining is that the character designs are straight from the original comic strips!

Release Date – October 11th

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Disnerds are in for a treat for the rest of the year with the launch of Disney’s streaming platform Disney+, but even the preparation for that didn’t stop the mouse from releasing something in October. Mistress of Evil is the follow up to the live action Maleficent movie from the 2014 Angelina Jolie film.

Release Date – October 18th

Zombieland 2: Double Tap

One of the most iconic zombie/comedy movies was 2009’s Zombieland, starring Jesse Eisenburg, Woodie Harrleson, and Emma Stone. The sequel to the wonderful film is finally coming to theatres, where the crew has to face the newly evolved undead. You can expect blood, zombies, and yes, twinkies.

Release Date – October 18th
