Modesto, California has a variety of cafes, sandwich shops, and a variety of local restaurants that’ll make your jaw drop. In fact, most of them are even available through DoorDash, which is great for us “busy” people (AKA introverts, like myself).
Boba is a personal favorite drink of mine, as well as Vietnamese food in general. T-Cups is no stranger to either of these, featuring an arsenal of flavorful appetizers, deserts, and bahn-mis (Vietnamese sandwhich).
Although Modesto gained major chain Quickly recently, T-Cups still manages to be crowned boba king in my heart. There is just something about the cafes’ atmosphere and food and beverages alike that make you want to stay for a while and enjoy not only your foods, but also your day.
The cafe even has a foosball table, making it a way to hang out with friends or end up strangling one another. If foosball isn’t your thing, the cafe also has a jenga set as well as other board games you and the crew could bond with over some tea.
The menu selection for tea is wonderful, ranging from taro to honeydew, strawberry to lychee, and more. Although I have tried every flavor over the years, my personal favorite is the passion fruit tea. During my visit this time, I ordered the passion fruit tea with pearls, and a grilled chicken Vietnamese sandwhich, crafted to a crispy and flavorful experience that leaves me wanting more.
In terms of cost, I think they are very inexpensive and the value you get is great. I spent $9 on a tea and sandwhich and everything tasted great. T-Cups features a great perk for students as well – on every Wednesday, as long as you have your student ID with you, you actually get 20% off your entire purchase. How cool is that?
T-Cups Cafe is on 10th Street in downtown Modesto, right next to Brendan Theatre. Although you can’t bring your boba into the movies, you can grab a drink before or after your movie.
